KNOURS KNOW HOW

For my fellow oily/acne-prone skin readers: Back to Summer

by Team Knours 06 Jun 2025 0 Comments

These days, my morning ritual begins with one quick check: the UV index. That little number could determine whether I start my morning skincare routine with sunscreen or not.

So, let me ask you, do you wear sunscreen every day?

For me, the answer was no, not always. Growing up with oily, acne-prone skin, sunscreen was something I avoided. It felt greasy, clogged my pores, and often led to breakouts. It just never became a habit. But these days, I actually want to wear sunscreen, and that shift has everything to do with finding the right one: mineral sunscreen. Not only does it protect my skin, it surprisingly helps balance my oil levels throughout the day. Let me explain.

Unlike chemical sunscreens, which absorb UV rays, mineral sunscreens, formulated with zinc oxide, physically reflects the UV rays. This makes them especially gentle and ideal for sensitive or reactive skin, like mine, which easily gets irritated under the sun. Plus, zinc oxide has naturally calming properties, a bonus for anyone who deals with inflammation or redness.

Now, if you have oily skin, zinc oxide also helps absorb excess sebum, leaving behind a smooth, matte finish. That makes it an excellent primer for makeup or just a blessing for anyone tired of shiny skin. And because mineral sunscreens are often non-comedogenic, they’re less likely to clog pores, huge news for those of us dealing with breakouts.

So is mineral sunscreen perfect? Not quite. The biggest drawback has always been the white cast, especially on darker skin tones, due to zinc oxide’s naturally opaque texture. It can feel thick, chalky, and hard to blend. But the good news is that it is 2025, skincare brands are becoming more and more innovative that they have been able to create “zero-cast” mineral sunscreens that are so soothing on skin.

Which brings me to introduce: KOOLSOL’s mineral sunscreen. It’s been gaining attention for good reasons, no white cast due to minimal zinc oxide, lotiony application, and the most balanced matte-but-hydrated finish. Here’s a video from Lily that might be helpful.

And honestly, after using it daily for a month, I’ve never felt better about my skin during summer. I’m not worried about breakouts or greasiness, I’m just excited to enjoy the sun, get a little glow, and feel good doing it.

So, to my dearest oily or acne-prone skin friends: give KOOLSOL’s mineral sunscreen a try.

You will love it because your skin will love it.
